"Politics Of Appeasement Biggest Hindrance In Our Development Journey": PM

Prime Minister Narendra Modi Tuesday said politics of appeasement is the biggest obstacle in the country's journey of development, and cautioned against "a very large political class" which cannot see a way of doing positive politics and can even compromise with the country's unity for their selfish goals. In the last nine years, India's internal security has been getting challenges from multiple fronts, but because of the hard work of security forces, the enemies of the country are not being able to succeed like they did in the past, PM Modi said. He was addressing a gathering at the Statue of Unity at Kevadia in Gujarat's Narmada district after paying floral tribute to Sardar Patel on his birth anniversary, which is celebrated as National Unity Day. For India, the next 25 years of this century is the most important period, Modi said, adding that "we have to make our country prosperous and developed" and achieve the goal while drawing inspiration...

We Have To Make India A Developed Country In Next 25 Years: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said the next 25 years of this century is the most important period for India and "we have to make it a prosperous and developed country" and achieve the goal while drawing inspiration from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. PM Modi paid floral tribute to Sardar Patel at the Statue of Unity at Kevadia in Gujarat's Narmada district on the occasion of the birth anniversary of India's first home minister and addressed a gathering here. Born in Gujarat in 1875, Patel was a lawyer and emerged as a leading Congress leader and associate of Mahatma Gandhi during the independence struggle. As the first home minister of the independent India, he is credited with uniting hundreds of princely states into the Union with his mix of persuasion and firmness. "There came a period of 25 years preceding the country's independence during the last century when every Indian exhausted himself to achieve independence. Now we are faced with a similar...

"Not Good For INDIA": Omar Abdullah Candid About Congress-Samajwadi Rift

The internal conflicts in INDIA alliance, especially in the states that re heading for elections by the year-end, is unfortunate, Omar Abdullah, former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir said today. As an example, he cited the public fight between the Congress and the Samajwadi Party that took place recently. "The way they gave statements that each of them will contest in all 80 seats of Uttar Pradesh -- this is not good for the INDIA alliance," he told reporters.   This is the first time a leader of the Opposition bloc has admitted to a rift and commented on it. Leaders of the BJP have been predicting the disintegration of the bloc since it was formed in July. Earlier this month, the Samajwadi Party was extremely upset after the Congress apparently broke its promise of seat sharing in Madhya Pradesh. Party chief Akhilesh Yadav talked tough, alleging that he had been back-stabbed by state Congress chief Kamal Nath and Digvijaya Singh and hinting that he could rethink his p...

"Those Of Italian Origin Won't Understand Work Done By PM Modi": Amit Shah

In a veiled swipe at Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday said a brother and sister whose "origins are in Italy" won't be able to understand the development done by the Narendra Modi government. Addressing a public meeting at Junnardeo in Chhindwara district of poll-bound Madhya Pradesh, Mr Shah said the people of India can clearly understand the development and referred to the construction of Ram temple and the abrogation of Article 370 among other achievements. When the world is praising India's growth story, the Congress is unable to see any positivity in the country, the BJP MP alleged. "The brother and sister (Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi-Vadra) while roaming in poll-bound states keep asking what has been done (by the BJP-led Centre), but they won't be able to understand this (development) as their origin is in Italy. Those having their origin in India will clearly understand this," Mr Shah said. ...
