The ruling BJP can be defeated if the Opposition is "aligned properly" and the Congress party is working towards it and it is "coming along very nicely", Rahul Gandhi has told Indian Americans in the US, citing his party's emphatic victory in the recent assembly elections in Karnataka. Responding to questions from the moderator and the audiences at an event at the Silicon Valley Campus of the University of California in Santa Cruz on Tuesday, Mr Gandhi said he can clearly see "vulnerabilities" in the BJP. "As a political entrepreneur, I can clearly see vulnerabilities in the BJP... The BJP can be defeated if the Opposition is aligned properly," he said. At present, the Army has about 145 Dhruv helicopters, the Air Force 70, the Navy 18 and the Coast Guard 20. The clearance to restart the operations of the chopper would need to be given by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), the manufacturer of the chopper, sources had earlier said. On May 4, a technician was killed and two pilots were injured after an Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) Dhruv with three people on board crashed following a "hard landing" in Jammu and Kashmir's Kishtwar district. ...

Notice Issued To Yasin Malik On Death Penalty Request For Terror Funding

The Delhi High Court on Monday issued a notice to separatist leader Yasin Malik, who is presently serving a life term, on a plea by the National Investigation Agency seeking death penalty for him in a terror funding case.  A bench of Justices Siddharth Mridul and Talwant Singh also issued warrants for production of Malik before it on August 9. Ms Mufti also lashed out at her former party and cabinet colleague Altaf Bukhari, saying those gleefully supporting Malik's hanging were a grave threat to "our collective rights". Bukhari, the president of Apni Party, said deterrent measures should be taken against those trying to threaten the country's security. "In a democracy like India where even the assassins of a PM were pardoned, the case of a political prisoner like Yasin Malik must be reviewed and reconsidered.
